Elk Mountain Knap-in

Welcome to the Elk Mountain Primitive Skills Camp and Knap-In (Name was too long to go on the title!). A few years back, Mike Foltmer began a gathering in Evans, Colorado along the Platte River. Being as his new home will be near Saratoga, Wyoming, the "new" knap-in has been held on his property. Makes it convenient for Mike, who doesn't like to have to travel far to go to work! Two years ago, Mike enlisted me to help it get going again at the new location as I'm moving up there soon myself. Sign-up sheets fill up pretty fast now, and it seems to have taken hold in this part of the country pretty well.

The Elk Mountain and Primitive Skills Camp and Knap-In will be held in 2007 from June 28 through July 1. A map will be forthcoming and I'll post it. In the meantime, call me (Doug) at 303-288-7636 and I'll be happy to answer any questions or add your name to the list. As it's a family-and kids-friendly affair with an emphasis on teaching and learning primitive skills (Wilderness, homesteading, and buckskinning, adds Mike), we'd like to see you and your family. There's a new swimming hole. There are archery shoots, atl-atl throws, blanket trades, drumming and dancing, hawk and knife throws, a Dutch Oven Cook-Off you won't want to miss, and even trips to Saratoga's Hot Springs, so there's plenty to keep you and the kids happy, busy, off the streets, and out of trouble!

Thought you might enjoy some pictures from our 2005 Knap-In, etc., some of which were kindly furnished by Eric Bindner - hats off! Yes, I took a camera, but there was so much going on I kinda forgot about it...

We'll be looking for ya!
